02.19.01
- Around London
London, UK
Jet
lag appears to be minimal. We slept until noon, which didn't
hurt. We decided it was time to leave the house, so we hopped
on the Underground and headed for the Tate Modern art gallery.
Interesting collection. Most of the art was very abstract,
and although not our normal taste, we appreciated the creativity
that obviously goes into it. But, I (Lisa) had to scoff
at the green florescent light hung on one wall. That was
it, just a green florescent tube. I could have done that.
After the gallery, we headed for the Tower of London and
the famous Tower bridge. We skipped the tour, since we've
already been, but seeing it cemented that we were back in
London. The Tower of London used to be home to the British
family and still holds the Crown Jewels. Its history is
full of war, the struggle for power and wealth, murder,
adultery and betrayal. Kind of like Melrose Place in steel
armor and (sometimes faulty) chastity belts.
